This is the first I've heard about this - was there a memo I missed?!?

The ONLY official mention of it was an off handed comment in the second to last paragraph of the president's Feb 19 Letter to Employees.

I thought the president also said communications were supposed to be a top priority here??

The “president” possesses the rare gift of being able to use 52 words to express what a normal person could do with 4.

Communications is not one of his very few talents.

home basing isnt going away, thats a non-starter

I heard its 1 pax A321 and 1 cargo as the first two.

Yeah this are the airframes but I don’t know where they’re coming from or the condition. And keeping home asking still doesn’t change that it would be a significant QoL decease in many ways. If the company tries to pull this off without a contract watch every single person they try to put on there walk out the door.

Small correction. Atlas is not home based. We have a "Gateway Travel" program--which means, company paid ticket from your Gateway Airport (local home airport) to your base.

red grape, green grap....
Essentially the same thing.
we're home based.... but the to/from home is coded Gate Way. For some pay calculations GW doesn't count toward monthly guarantee.... but since we rarely break guarantee it doesn't matter....

the other differences are where you'd collect unemployment from, or sue them from, among the most notable differences. Taxes can be an issue in a few states that try to collect from pilots that don't live in that state. You're 117 calculations start finish in base (domicile) too, so some difference there as well with a real base to report to. Here's a possible difference, do they give you a hotel once you leave home, or do they play the you're in base, get your own game?

from a practical standpoint.... same things. Positive space to/from work.

general ops there

Been reading the complaints, hotels not ready on landing, "forced???" to ride in a seat not described in policy for deadhead or positioning for a flight. Wondering if there has been any improvement lately?

In general, do you guys airline overseas much to start a trip or typically airline domestic then start your trips?
In bidding, is there options to bid the type of flights you want, N or S America vs Europe type of thing?

Thanks. Fat Tony

In the ACMI world, one generally bids a schedule, rather than a trip. One can usually expect to work the days one is awarded, but not necessarily the flights that might be listed on that line. Things change. Flexibility is key.

Global charter means that. Any time, anywhere.

All the above has happened this month, and unfortunately will continue into the foreseeable schedule of those working at Omni. Not for the faint of heart.

Not in the whole ACMI world. Some ACMI contracts protect your
awarded schedule with reassignment pay of 7 hrs per day,
for every day over 3 per bid period (30 days). Exception is for training.
Also cannot be taken off a weekend trip for training unless
the crewmember agrees to it. Then only into days off.

Omni has a mix of lines of known flying and reserve days most months.... but you're correct. Plan to bid the days off you want. If there's actual lines with scheduled flying, great but don't expect it.
