Commuting is a NO NO with the carrier.

I understand this point of contention with Miami Air....and I don't have a problem with that....BUT....they should not just look at your HOME ADDRESS and because it is NOT in the State of Florida...SPECIFICALLY within 1-1/2 Hrs of MIA Airport.....and BLOW YOU OFF...Not even offer you an Interview.....

People can Re-locate or ACCQUIRE A Crash Pad Apartment to be available on all duty days.....

I have the experience...exceed the mins....have 2 PIC Type Ratings ( one a widebody).....have applied twice with them...including this current window.....and like everyone else.....I really NEED The Job and would be willing to relocate to FLL.....

I even sent a SEPERATE E-MAIL to D Durocher indicating that I would gladly re-locate for the opportunity......No Response whatsoever..

I still get ignored....Don't know what else to do....Interviews are in Dec 2012 and Jan. 2013..

Well if this is true about having a FL address, I'm out of the running too. More than willing to re-locate. Will see what shakes out. Also, I exceed the mins, 73 typed and current.

I doubt that's the problem. I have a friend who flies for them and was living in Michigan when he applied and got hired. He now lives in Miami but obviously no where close when he applied.

Got a call last night so it appears the address was not a problem. Naturally I'm on USAF Reserve duty now for the next 30 days...

I applied 4 times with zero response. I was flying and living in Memphis at the time. My cousin lives in Miami so I asked her if I could use her address on my résumé. With her permission I emailed the Chief Pilot, John Passwater, at 2am and he called me about an interview at 9am the same day. They REALLY do prefer local pilots. One guy in my new hire class nearly a year ago lived in Arizona and was hired. 2 were Florida residents. In my class of 4 pilots, 2 had ATP's with 737 type ratings, jet time, but no experience in type, one only had a Commercial license with an SIC type in the 737 and also in the Embraer 170 along with FO experience in the 737. And then there was me who was the odd man out. I had +1000 PIC turboprop in the ATR 72 with zero jet time or types, but I had an internal recommendation from a company instructor.

From what I know there is currently a class of 4 going on with plans for February and March classes of 4 each. I believe interviews for Feb. have been completed and I am unsure of the interviews for the March class.

Good luck!

Jan class is in progress. There was a second round of interviews in early Jan. They used both interview groups to fill the Feb & Mar classes.
