I am not really sure where to find this info, but can anyone tell me the Chief Pilot's name at Atlas Air? Thanks in advance.

Hello gentlemen, i'm trying to find some old threads about the company but don't really see anything in here. How is the QOL on reserve? Is the company guarantee still at 50hours/mo for first year? If yes, do first year guys break 50hours/mo? What is the training pay and duration of training? With the company receiving airplanes starting in Q4 of this year, what is the anticipated movement toward upgrades?

And read the entire 150 pages...if you are serious about Atlas, it is a must-read. You should know what you are getting into. I'm not trying to make it doom-and-gloom, just that you should know the process, lifestyle, etc, so that you don't make the mistake that some guys have made...gave up perfectly good jobs for the lure of flying the Whale, but can't put up with all that goes with it.

Good luck.

What he says. And as far as upgrade time? If you want to be safe and realistic, figure your upgrade will happen right after the guy ahead of you. And since he has no idea when...it's best to not waste time or antacids thinking about it because all you end up with is an ulcer.

It is what it is..............................................

More importantly, IT IS NOT, WHAT IT IS NOT...................

Write down the reasons you want to fly here. If too fly the "whale" is in the top three, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Or stay where you are.

This job is not for everyone, or maybe most.

I have done the commuter gig, domestic airline gig (727 - 737), international gig (757 - 767), and now I have found my home. Do yourself a favor, much less us, if you even have a "second" of doubt, go somewhere else. If you don't, come fly with us, IMHO, the best job in the world.

Since when did the once proud profession become a "gig."

My guess would be sometime in the mid 80's. Before all the drug testing nonsense.
