Last year when I talked to the head of HR, she said 5000tt was the magic number even if you already exceed the required mins. So, IMHO, if you have 5k+ you're competitive.

I have 12500 hours, 2600 jet pic, with heavy time, glass time, over 350 Atlantic crossings, and I'm current on the 747-400, and have over 9000 hours of part 121 time. Alas, I am 58 going on 59, and had a 4 year break in service. Think they'll call me?

Apply and find out for yourself, you never know until you try.

Depends ....

Can most of the other crewmembers that you fly with stand being in the same cockpit with you on a 15 hour trip?

Thank you all for taking the time to reply to my question! I appreciate the comments.

I do have more than 5K... 5500 to be exact, so maybe ;] I'll cross my fingers!

you have a huge upside. no, not your experience - that they'd only have to pay you for 7 years! I did hear of another geezer (mid-50s) being hired in the last go-round. Good luck!

They have been running new-hire classes every three weeks.

Does anyone have a super secret phone number at Atlas I could call just to see if they are even considering my application?
