OK...nevermind. The moderator says it can't happen. The question was "who was awarded the contract"? The answer is Republic.

Default Right to work state?

I thought SK was a California Company. Thats not a right to work state. Sounds like the people laid off have a legitimate complaint.

SK operated out of the SMF FSDO and the Corporate address is in CA. The paychecks all come from Burbank. They are in the process of switching to the Orlando FSDO. Crew bases are in Miami, Alexandria, LA and Atlantic City, NJ.

But look at it this way. They filed the BK paperwork on the 31st. The filing was prepared on the 20th when they knew those 3 airplanes were going away. 251 is on its deathbed and the contract with Gold is going away. Its a non-union airline in a right to work state. They can do whatever they want to do. Moral compass is not even a consideration.

The King cannot generate enough money with 4 1/2 airplanes available. I give it till the end of September and it will vanish. I don't have sour grapes about being let go...I told them I was leaving this month anyways, so I have no hard feelings.

If you were let go, don't look back. It was just a matter of time anyways.
The dust has settled and it has become clear that seniority had no bearing at all on the release of pilots from Sky King. While as you state, there was no binding legal requirement for JB, RC and PF to terminate pilots in a traditional industry method or in compliance with the Sky King pilot book; character, integrity and morality would dictate that they furloughed in seniority order. It gives the appearance of an sinister motive, such as clearing the deck so that they can hire cronies, friends or perhaps other ATA pilots. Perhaps this isn't the case, put the appearance is definitely there. They should also have ensured the furloughed pilots had an opportunity for recall, in the unlikely event that Sky King pulls out of its FV induced death spiral to Chapter 7.

Its just another example of airline pilots eating their own young for personal gain. In my opinion their behavior was not acceptable. I hope the industry does not soon forget those names.

I have no dog in this fight but be careful of ATA guys in management. They protect their own and will do what it takes to place them in the left seat with or without union protection. My experience with them in management has been a disaster.

I think 80's point was that RAH surrendered the YX certificate, and with it all their approval to operate the B717. With the Frontier project blowing up in Brian Bedford's face I think it's highly unlikely he would jump through the necessary hoops for a 3 aircraft B717 operation. He's trying to sever from F9 due to bleeding money as it stands now. But they may have some E170/190 aircraft they can use. That would be much cheaper.

In typical Bedford sleaze fashion...he bid the contract advertising the 717. Harrah's didn't want the EMBs...they awarded the contract based on Republic being able to use the 717. The funny thing is...Gold offered to help Republic in the transition period by providing the busses and ground handling services. Good Old Republic had no idea that when they bid on the contract, that they had to provide all that other stuff to go with it. They thought they were just flying airplanes back and forth...dummies.

Well I guess he could use B717s. Just seems expensive. But BB has proved he doesn't make the smartest business decisions. He may want any contract flying he can snag since that's the only way he can make money.

Does SK still fly the Miami - Havana run? They had an office across the street from Boeing training.

Allegiant had 3 charter / single aircraft bases, Wendover, Laughlin, and Tunica, correct?

Caesars put out a bid for Laughlin, Tunica, and Atlantic City. Didn't Republic get it with the E190?

What does me being a moderator have anything to do with it?

It's a pretty ridiculous rumor given the stated 717s, and I backed it up with reasons why not to believe it.

If they did get it, why not an airbus or 190? That would make sense and be believable.
