Question Omni Parking 767-300s?

Hi all,

I hear Omni just parked 387AX for good about a week or so ago. What is the story? I thought it was the last 767-300 added to the fleet a just a few years ago. More to come, one off, being replaced?

I went back about 6 pages on the Omni thread and didn't see any mention of it.

Thanks

387 was an old INS only airplane - being cut up for parts - Omni is always looking for other jets - maybe another 767-200ER - another 777 who knows
other INS only jet will probably get GPS upgrade

If I remember correctly 387 was bought with the intention of being a parts aircraft eventually. Over the last five years the total fleet size has shrunk. In 2007 they had 10 or 12 DC-10s and 4 757's. Today the total airframes creating revenue is not as large. It's probably the reason why hiring has been few and far between. Hopefully Omni will find some more long term contracts outside of the DOD world before they move down the Ryan International road. I am not familiar with the demand of the civilian pax market for short or long term lift, but hopefully Omni will capitalize on its potential of owning most, if not all, of its fleet to get some more long term civilian business for future growth. If not, the trend of a shrinking fleet and support staff will continue. Time is always an honest truth that nobody can hide behind.

time will tell - Omni does own outright all its jets now - no leases to outside banks - still making money on the present fleet - long term contracts are always being sought - the deal with Boliviana is one example even though it has the pilots pulling 90 day "tdys" - more contracts coming - so the rumor mill has it

Someone at Fraport said Omni will be doing Condor out of EDDF this summer. Probably 767 flying.

Allow me to stir up the pot a bit, but there is word that 387 will actually be coming back and undergoing a C check in Mid-March. I'm not making this up….
