Atlas Scheduling

1) Gateways. If I live within 130 miles of my base, they will likely commercial me from my gateway if the first day of my trip is a DH somewhere else, but if my first day is starting in my base, I might be jump seating or driving it?
2) DC8 you mentioned getting extended into your days off and having only 2 days between two 17 day tours. Do you ever get those days off back later on?
Thanks!

With GDOs, they have to get you back to your crew base (not home!) by 23:59z on your last day, which could result in you not getting home till the next day, depending on available fights. And they can violate GDOs (maintenance, weather, ATC delays).

All of these questions and many, many what-if scenarios are discussed on the other Atlas thread. There you may find clarification for your misconceptions.

1) yes. Company gives you parking at your base, so driving would be easiest.
2) no, you never get extended days back later on.

As for senior bases.... For 747 FOs BEFORE the new ORD base bid it looks like this.
1. IAH - Some trips are 90 hours of pay and 6 days of work. You won't see these trips until after you're senior enough to hold 744 Captain.
2. MIA - Trips have tons of days on at home.
3. LAX - Because LA has a huge population. Trips leave and don't come back to base.
4. JFK - Trips start out of base quite often.
5. PAE - LCF trips. Nice trips to Italy.
6. CVG - DHL flying. Some days on at home.
7. HSV - At least it's lower 48. Lots of Africa flying.
8. ANC - Because the commute stinks.
ORD is probably going to take most of the good trips away from HSV. My guess is that it goes more senior than LAX. HSV will get hit the worst. Most of the HSV trips will involve Africa and the lines that don't will now be around the world trips that in my opinion stink. Personally I think you'd be better off being senior in ANC unless you live within driving distance of HSV... If you're dead set on HSV though you'd be able to hold the bottom of the HSV within the first year given the attrition at the lower end of the Atlas list. I wouldn't plan on Atlas for the HSV list because if you get stuck on the 767 you'd be seat locked for 3 years. In 3 years you'd be likely to be elsewhere and if you're still at Atlas you won't be moving to the 744 because you'll be close to being a 767 Captain.
Best of luck!

Just to point out to the audience, it's 2/4/6/6/6/6 to infinity if you're out voluntarily. The 12 hour premium pay only comes into play on the 4th day when involuntarily extended.

Close to 767 CA for a new hire in three years from now? That'd be great, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Currently, it's looking like 4.5 years for the initial cadre FOs...

Junior PAE FO was hired 6/29/15 (past results are no indication of future performance).
PAE is supposed to be mostly LCF flying with primary destinations of TAR, CHS, IAB, PAE, NGO and tech stops in JFK and ANC. Don't know about the actual schedules, but if you were to ask the PAE guys, I'd bet that they fly our other planes to other destinations pretty often.
Check the other thread, there's probably more info there.

Phoenix, You're exactly right. I went down that road; they told me to pound sand and said that it was critical to the operation. It's worded in such a way that their definition of the above verbiage always wins. We need to tighten up the wording in our next contract and get rid of language such as "best effort" and things of that nature.
