Actually the 767 type is way more marketable. Don't get caught up in plane envy. If your an inexperienced guy be happy with either. But at Omni the 767 has better trips and less airline travel then the 777. As far as the failure rate goes the 777 is not an easy airplane to start out on. You aren't just learning to fly a new aircraft but learning to manage a new airplane. If you aren't familiar with automation like the triple it can be a challenge. The 767 is actually a great airplane to start on as your first heavy. The 76 has a lot of automation but isn't too automated, it's the perfect amount of both. As a new hire I would absolutely take the 76 over the triple. Again better trips, less airlining, and more desirable type at this time.
As I've never flown a heavy, what difference would it make? They would both be brand new to me. Besides, I like the triple better and I know this will sound dorky, but having a 777 type would give me more "street cred" with my regional pilot friends.
What's wrong with airlining to work? I'd rather ride than work any day!

It's something about the people we were getting, if you can't fly an airplane where all you need to do is slam on the automation at 200 feet and not touch anything until 100 feet off the ground on the way down the problem is not the airplane or the airline.

Airline from Home to KWI... operate to RMS, airline to KWI, sit a week, airline to DFW, operate to KWI. That's a rough outline of a junior 777 pilots life. The 767 has the better trips, just by virtue of there being more 767s. That doesn't mean it will stay that way forever.

With all due respect, I'd love to sit in a hotel and still get paid!
Are you saying that new Omni pilots are poor aviators? What are their backgrounds and experience? I know I'm a good pilot with good training. I can hand fly a plane if needed.

The guy is giving you advice and you are bound and determined to to ignore it. Why would you "respectfully disagree" with a guy who's flown the actual airplanes? It sounds like it's your first wb experience, take the advice for what it's worth.

As they said in school, a planes a plane a plane. Learn the basics and teach me the specifics of the triple and I'm confident I'll be fine.

Knot, you can really do what you want, take or ignore any advice that is presented. Most of us have been around this type of flying long enough to know what our priorities are (individually). Choosing the 76/77 isn't going to be your biggest hurdle. Your biggest hurdle is probably going to be yourself.
Anyone that makes it through to the line at Omni is not a poor aviator by any means. The ones who wash out in training; well that's another story. I've seen and heard some pretty amazing things lately.

Please do not apply here. This is not a snowflake friendly airline. You will melt.
