Default Applications

Our recruiting dept has a ton of applications. They are having to sort through them all and it is taking some time to find the most qualified applicants. It is taking some time to call and do pre-screenings and setting up interviews.

Remember that C5 is not only hiring pilots at this time. They are hiring maintenance, flight attendants and other office positions so they have their hands full.

Those that were in the pilot hiring pool are also being called back for classes in Oct. so we are getting things moving.

It’s nice being the only game in town.

Well, they could have flushed the pool and started over. They choose not to. That shows some class.

Why would that show some class?

I missed the Town Hall meeting today, but from what I have heard second hand:

Will be taking back about 35 former C5 peeps. Hiring 35 new hires before the end of the year. We are greatly restricted in the number we can hire due to a max of 10 in each class due to COVID and the size of our classrooms.

Upgrades should start around Nov of this year again.

Plan on having 65 A/C in the next 6 months. Currently at 37 I think.

AND for the XJT guys that like to start rumors:
No we are not taking the XJT certificate. We have everything we need at C5 or we are finalizing it with the FAA and Mexico. No, XJT does not have any assets except for A/C parts. Training center has been taken care of by UA for years. The XJT ownership is long gone (thanks skywest). Yes, your MEC is still feeding you a bunch of crap that isn't true and you should be able to see through that by now.

As always, these statements are my personal opinion as a pilot and in no way has anything to do with my employer or my MEC. I just feel that there is too much misinformation starting to float around again.

From the call:

October will result in slightly more than 50% of our pre-covid block hours (up from about 30% in September) but a "full deployment" of our existing pilots is expected because the flying continues to be inefficient and the MOU still requires 30% reserves.

Current plan is for 36 new hire FOs and a net of 72 pilot positions by end of the year. 8 former C5ers have already been interviewed or otherwise expressed an interest in returning under LOA 3 and these internal interviews are ongoing. External pilot interviews will begin mid-September. Former C5ers, TSA, ExpressJet, or other UAX carrier pilots with a 145 type will be hired preferentially. Existing CJOs will be honored, sans bonuses, of course.

20 of the 50 crews required to staff IAH in October have already bid to move to that base. The domicile bid doesn't close until the 29th so those aren't final numbers, but I would suggest that if you meet the above criteria and want to be IAH based, better get your app in.
