New Hire Expectations

Right. I'm glad I was able to keep my job, as was the rest of C5. But I will never understand UALs thinking on keeping us and trying to expand a small company rapidly rather than keep the established operator going.
I know it was largely financial and that XJT had gotten “too expensive”. But where’s the value now that we cannot get our legs under us? What are we really costing them now and especially in terms of passenger experience? By all accounts, the CRJ550 is a nice product for the passengers, the 145 is obsolete and uncomfortable.

I joined when it was a sub-200 pilot group. It has always been kind of chaotic, but it was the only option for many. It was either your first airline or your last chance for an airline job for whatever reason. But it was small, friendly and worked ok in the turboprop days. Our training department was decent and everyone looked out for each other. Some of that is still here, but it’s being diluted by the craziness that is C5 currently. And we need a drastic improvement in QOL language in our CBA just as much if not more than we need another $20/hr.
We’re 3 times the size of when I first showed up here, yet with all of the underlying issues we’ve always had that were never corrected. We’re spread thin across the country instead of spread thin in the Northeast. I’ve had a good run here, I’m grateful to have had my time here when the company was small, I’ve met a lot of really good people and it’s given me a chance to build my career back up. But I’m hoping my time ends here at C5 before too much longer.

Yea it’s pretty bad, I didn’t think I would be doing a lateral move but I gotta get out of here before this ship sinks. That Aviate carrot ain’t worth the paper its written on if and when commuteAir goes under in 2 years. I just don’t see how they can stay around at this rate.

We've been saying it for over a decade on this forum. FLOW. IS. A. TRAP.

Is this across the board, or just a few isolated cases?

You have to look out for you. Pre covid, the ones who didn't consolidate were the ones who weren't pro active in making sure consolidation happened.
In a perfect world someone at the company would be managing this but the world isn't perfect.

Applied via airlineapps couple weeks ago, waiting to hear back from recruiting. Anyone here with an idea what the approximate timeframe is till recruiting replies?
Also heard quite a few higher ups are leaving, hence a backlog in the organisation level? Cheers

It's not a perfect world but like you said, nobody's in charge.

True, but you can't start consolidation if you haven't been able to start your IOE yet due to lack of LCAs.
