Angry Denver base closing

Well its official, Commuteair's Denver base and LNK mx hub will be closed by the end of June. Company says that most of its Denver pilots will be put in IAD, but I honestly think theyre going to lose more pilots. I dont think many denver pilots will want to commute to DC for sh*tty trips in a 145... I certainly will not be commuting. *sigh*

I wish it was a rumor, the ceo sent out an email this morning. United wants to backfill the lost flying after Air Wisconsin left IAD so C5 is trying to move more pilots there.

That’s a bummer for the Denver based folks. Is this a shrinking of the airline or are they actually shifting flying to IAD?

strange being that the company posted on their website that LNK would be an MRO for heavy checks. They would move away from going to Canada for heavy checks and doing them in house.

Any idea who the MRO provider is in Canada?

Google search shows it’s Premier Aviation in YQB

Wow. I'm guessing they can "save money" by outsourcing that mx work to Canada.

That, or maybe hiring and retention of mechanics in the Lincoln area is a challenge?

I'd imagine the bigger challenge is not having having a Denver base and not flying to LNK from IAH either. Now instead of United paying C5 to operate a revenue flight to LNK, C5 would have to fly an empty plane, at their own expense. Probably cheaper at that point to just shift as much work to ALB as possible and do the occasional overflow work in YQB
