Default Denver Base

Can you guys give me a rough idea of when I could hold Denver if I started in March.

Also, what his the hire date of the most junior Denver Capt?

Finally, it looks like all the airlines are printing cash, but do any of you guys have apprehension about United’s financial future after what we saw in the 2000’s or are those days long gone?

Sorry this is going to sound like a dick answer but read this forum for a couple hours and just do a basic search and you will find the answers to ALL of the questions you just asked. There are atleast 3 threads talking about the last earnings call just filter through the SkyW bull**** and you will see how we feel.

I responded to a "how long to hold DEN" thread just last week.

It's the most senior base by far; Orville, Wilbur, Methuselah etc. 2nd from the bottom 737 Cap is about a 1997 former UA and the Jr is former CAL probably about 2004.
As to the future, who knows. I've personally given up on having "apprehension" about things I can't control. Instead, I have "Single Malt" for that. Good Luck.

You haven’t even gotten hired yet, or even off AD; and you’re concerned about the DOH of the junior CA at the most senior base? Really?

You’re right. You do sound like a dick. It takes as many keystrokes to just tell me as it did to tell me to comb through thousands of posts. As you can see by how many posts I have, I don’t live on this forum like you.

Full disclosure. I have a UAL job offer and an upcoming SWA interview. I’m planning on living in Colorado. SWA guys get Denver in a few months and upgrade at 10 years or less in Denver. So I am trying to get a feel for which would be a better fit.

20 years ago, UAL would have been my dream job. Now I’m late to the game (42) and would like to know where the fastest path to being a captain in Denver would be. People say UA has more retirements, but if they aren’t going to help me get into and upgrade in DEN, I’m not sure that does me any good.

SWA guys hired 10 years ago are getting to be Captains now, not that if you are hired you'll be a Captain there in 10 years. A friend of mine hired 8 years ago at SWA is now going to take 4-6 more years to make Captain because of the AT merger. Its going to be a LOT longer since AT had a lot of young pilots and you are going to be junior to them forever. At one point, we had CAL pilots with 6 years on the property holding Captain in Denver on the 737. So its a moving target.
