Where are you guys at in the training footprint?
Those that got done and were in sims when we shut down are doing an extended recurrent to get them back up to speed.
Those that were in ground school will probably be scheduled in Oct. Our training schedule is completed 2 months out. Oct is currently being worked.

C5 wants to make sure everyone in the system is set up for success so they will back you up with ground school to make sure you can move forward again. The upgrades and those on new hire IOE are redoing some sims to make sure they are up to speed before proceeding as well.

First Year Pay
Realistically what is the first year pay for a new hire at C5? I read on the C5 profile that a first year FO can make up to $74,000...I am assuming that this is an unreasonable expectation at the moment. It would be more reasonable to expect $37.46/hr x 75/MMG correct?
I am an 8 year ExpressJet CA recently displaced to FO. Most likely I will be furloughed come October 1st. I want to keep flying and I am trying to have a positive attitude. I filled out the C5 application but I am hesitant to click submit. I cannot maintain my current standard of living on first year FO pay at C5 and I would have to make some serious sacrifices. The pay would be roughly equivalent to what I will make on unemployment if what I said above is true.

I was in your shoes once and after several months of unemployment found a job at less than half what I was making before. I filed bankruptcy and it was not a fun time.
As I wrote in another 'furlough advice' thread: 1. Unemployment isn't forever so it is unwise to compare it to a salary. 2. You do not have any decisions to make until you receive a job offer. 3. Optimized decision making suggests you should apply to every job you see posted from CEO to third shift janitor and take the highest paying one offered.
Only you can decide the opportunity cost of remaining current by taking a lower paying flying job or remaining solvent by taking a higher paying non-flying job. A Hobson's choice if ever there was one.
For my part I hope one of the cargo carriers hires you. None of this is your fault.

I went through the '08 furlough and unemployment runs out faster than most realize. I did the Home Depot thing and made more money than I was making at XJT on first year pay ($23/hour at XJT at the time). When I went back to XJT, second year pay kicked in and I again got a pay raise.
C5 pay of 38.57 X 75 ($2893) is more than the Home Depot pay of $15 X 40 X 4 ($2400) (if you can get $15 and there are no discounts either) or unemployment at $521/week ($2084) I am not including the extra $300 because states are now refusing it. If the state does throw it in, then unemployment will pay more for a few months but it does not include any type of benefits like medical which is expensive on your own.
