A signing bonus is something the company can do without union involvement (I think) but I haven't heard of anything like that coming to fruition. The union would prefer contract improvements rather than a signing bonus though. That way everybody would benefit, rather than just new-hires.

By the time this contract reaches a TA we should all hopefully be moved on to greener pastures.
Or maybe it's just my experience working for an airline that dragged out negotiations for almost 10 years. Hell, look at RAH.

No one knows what the future holds. The path to greener pastures can disappear in the blink of an eye in this business. 401K match is an important benefit to sell to applicants that understand this. Finding the elusive golden unicorn is far from a sure thing.

Agree to a certain extent. Almost all companies who match a certain percentage require you to complete at least 3 years from the point they starting matching your contributions. If you leave before that time the company gets their money back from your 401K. Again, I agree matching would be great but make sure we read the fine print. At some companies its 6 years. It would benefit those just starting and those planning to stay long term. Negotiate higher pay and quality of life before matching in my opinion.

Had to throw in my 2cents. Our on time does suck and could be improved, but currently we are still getting our buts kicked in other areas (MX, FO attrition, etc.). We can only wage one battle at a time. Personally I do not know of anybody who doesn't try to get caught back up when they are late. Especially if it is go home day.
Now for the time calling and being at the airplane on time, I think we do fairly well. I remember when we received recognition from the UAX management in IAD for how we handle turns and departures. I still have the good job memo we all got from the base chief at the time. We are in a rut as a whole and I do hope we come out of it soon. Perhaps these reasons are why mgmnt doesn't ride us.
Oh ya and the FAs that think they run the show: DRIVE ME NUTZ!
