Default Delta Info

I am trying to get the latest info on what's happening at DAL these days. According to this website DAL still has 475 furloughed, has this changed? Any rumors of more recalls? Also was wondering which A/C type they are planning on cutting to slim down to 4 types. Any news on how this is going to affect the pilot group?
Also any other news about DAL would be greatly appreciated.

Oddball question, is SLC a junior or senior base?

They are recalling 63, and I think maybe an additional 15. Most recalls are coming from a "short notice recall list" because most pilots are bypassing recall.

The recalls that are going back are being assigned md88 & 737-800 nyc and atl.

Hope that helps.

There has been talk that Delta has shown interest in leasing 15 757 which are former TWA aircraft. In addition it is rumored that they are also in the market for about 40 MD80 series aircraft. If this where to happen they would likely need to go to the street to hire based on the numbers returning from the short list. Keep in mind none of this is etched in granite.

ATL TV stations are reporting this morning that Delta is gonna short term lease 10 757`s from American. These were TWA planes that don`t fit into American`s plans. The rumor mill states that they are also gonna lease a bunch of MD 80`s from a variety of sources. All of these plans require the court`s approval. The long range plan is for 787`s,777`s, 757`s and 737-800.Where are they gonna get the $$$$ to do this? I haven`t got a clue....Maybe from the half of my retirement money that I`m gonna get screwed out of.

Tried this yesterday. Don't know if it went through. Posted: Jul 13, 2006 7:09 PM

I found this:
Item number 2843, filed yesterday, says that DL is making a motion for permission from the court "for entry of an order in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A (the “Order”), authorizing Delta to enter into, and to perform its obligations under, a Letter of Intent, dated July 12, 2006 (the “Letter of Intent”), that Delta has negotiated with International Lease Finance Corporation (“ILFC”) and which sets forth certain material
terms and conditions for the lease by Delta from ILFC of ten (10) Boeing B757-200ER aircraft, each including an airframe (the “Airframe”) and two (2) Pratt & Whitney PW2037 engines installed on the Airframe (each, an “Engine”, and together with the Airframe, the “Aircraft”). A full copy of the Letter of Intent has been provided to Chambers and the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors (the “Official Committee”). A redacted copy of the Letter of Intent (with certain confidential and commercially sensitive information deleted) is attached hereto as Exhibit B.2."

= Scheduled Delivery: Delivery of the Aircraft to DAL will be as follows:
SN DOM Delivery Date*
28162 1996 July 15, 2007
27620 1996 July 15, 2007
28165 1997 August 14, 2007
27625 1997 August 15, 2007
28168 1997 September 14, 2007
28163 1997 September 15, 2007
28169 1997 October 15, 2007
27624 1997 October 15, 2007
28173 1997 November 15, 2007
29954 1999 November 15, 2007"

As to WINGLETS, the LOI says:

Winglets: ILFC to provide cash contribution toward the purchase of winglets in the amount of $ per aircraft. Timing of payments to be mutually agreed in the Lease Agreements. It is also understood that the winglets will remain with the aircraft at return."

Not really. I think thats the main reason CAL ditched theirs, and Alaska is getting ready to ditch theirs too. The old JT-8's are not as efficient as the engines on the modern 737s and small Airbuses.

Seems logical. The 737-200 is a dinosaur, and there are very few left. These will be easy to get rid of. There are quite a few MD-88's. I agree that these should leave the fleet as soon as practical, but it seems like Delta needs some more 737-800's to replace these. Unless they are planning on replacing them with 70+ seat RJ's .

The problem I see is with the 767's. Delta is the largest operator of Boeing 767's in the world. Even after selling many to ABX and Hawaiian. They currently have 100+ 767's. Since Delta is expanding internationally, I don't know how they can fly internationally without their 767's (Only 8 777's, and a few 787's on order). I think Delta should keep their 767's. They are compatible with the 757's in many respects. I just can't see Delta give up their 767's in the near future.

The 767's are Delta's life blood. They certainly won't be going ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, soon.

The 767's are included with the 75's--they're going nowhere. DAL sold the 767 200's ( 11 I think) and the Spirit went to the museum. How can they afford it? By screwing the retired pilots out of half of their pensions and by continuing to screw the active pilots with lower pay and no pensions. Frees up alot of money. REDWAVE
