All runways except 8 are closed, you have no alternate, and getting low on fuel oh, and dispatch is not getting back to you. The ILS for Runway 8 is out of service and your only option is to shoot the straight in visual. You declare the emergency so your legal, but.. The real question is... Can you handle a straight in visual for runway 8?

So what's exactly happened for us non compass pilots?

Occasionally someone screws up a visual approach and then the rest of the group gets punished by not being allowed to do visual approaches.

I talked with the crew and the FOSA doesn’t accurately represent everything that happened.

I just wanted to make top gun memes. I can redo them with SJC as the airport instead but that would be an outdated issue. In fairness to flight ops, I think the ban on visuals in ABQ is temporary while they figure out what changes need to be made or something. It's still embarrassing that we can't do them anymore.

I don't know who the crew is, but I hope they liked the memes and didn't take it personal. It's just fun to make fun of ourselves and the new rules that go into effect for all of us.

Edit: I do stand by my post that after all the memes, I nominate Tom Cruise for tool of the day
