I've seen a couple of Martin Backpackers about. I play myself but never felt the need to drag yet another item around with me on a 4 day. The longer you do this job the more you pare down the crap you haul around with you.

A mandolin is fairly doable if you can tolerate the complaints from adjacent hotel rooms. I decided I couldn't.

I like the idea, but like JetDoc said, I cant bring myself to drag it around. But you should! And then let's do some trips together

Last month, I bought a Traveler Guitar Ultra-Light and generally bring it on trips (except when I have Mexico overnights. I do not feel like getting it confiscated down there).

https://www.guitarcenter.com/Travele...#productDetail

It comes with a gig bag and a "stethoscope" (technically called a "stethophone" for battery-free natural sound) along with a detachable lap rest for portability.

Great tone/sound, worth every penny. It is almost as if they designed it specifically for pilots

I agree with the above, which is why I'm trying to budget for one of these https://www.stewartguitars.com/product/stow-away-travel-guitar/ it fits in a laptop soft case. As long as you dont mind lugging the extra weight in your rollaboard or flight bag. Best part is no one will know you have a guitar with you!

Don't forget to budget for the travel cow bell set. It can be a little heavy but if you get a 22 inch bag which should be lighter you'll do just fine. I think Travel Pro makes a combination cow bell and cooler combination. I've even seen guys forgo cans of tuna just so they can get the cowbells into the cooler. That way nobody even know's they have a full cowbell set.
