I don't think we can count on anything at this point. With capacity cuts across the board, we may severely lower our American flying even more.. Ide say we furlough down to 250 (300 tops), and more if American lowers our block hours more. The delta news really sped this all up.

Hang in there everyone

Do you guys think you’re gonna be able to keep your AA flying operation going at least? :(

For the time being, yes. Unless AA decides to pull the plug or reduce capacity. Although how cares, many of us will be furloughed in the coming weeks and could care less about what the people in MN and STL are thinking right now.

tallow 03-14-2020 12:05 PM

So are you guys getting a "gracious offer" to go to Gojet?

The only gracious offer we have received is to walk ourselves out the door voluntarily.

Do you believe that’s a real possibility? GoJet May be in for reductions as well

Remember it would cost AA money to cancel our contract before 2021. With Waterski they just elected to not renew their contract. Now if AA invokes force majeure (a term we all should familiarize ourselves with) then it becomes a different story. The longer this drags out the reality is this will be bad news for the wholly owned airlines more so then the SkyWests and Republics of the world.

Seems like they could already claim that.

The cost to cancel would be a drop in the bucket compared to an average daily loss-cost. Welcome to 2020.

All it takes is for the cost to break the contract to be less than the cost of continuing to operate empty flights and they'll do it immediately. I honestly expect it to be announced by next week. I haven't seen any big announcement letter from AA like I have for DL though. Anyone seen anything on their concrete plans to reduce their capacity?

boxthrower 03-14-2020 04:36 PM

Well you’re scheduled for 40-43 departures per day out of LAX in April now.

Yeah but 2 days ago all we had to worry about was reduced Delta block hours :/

Well we only had 12. So that leaves another 168 to be parked.

Depends on your state, but most likely yes.

UhOh 03-15-2020 12:13 PM

I'm confused will there be a full rebid for April after this one? I cant bid for anything on PBS since there's no SEA lines anymore...

Just stock up on ammo. With enough ammo, one can make trades for anything.

Concur with 7.62, it will stop people.

Nato 5.56 is great but only for what it was intended for...

Light enough to carry lots of it, suitable for wounding the enemy at long ranges on the presumed battlefields of Europe. At a distance you don't have to stop them, just wound them, and then you've created a WIA logistical drag for the enemy, taking more soldiers out of the fight.

So since all SEA pilots are now LA based...does that make them ineligible for WA state unemployment when the inevitable furlough/layoffs happen? Wouldn't it also make them ineligible for CA state unemployment because they haven't played into the system?

I guess we technically have till the end of April before we are LA based.

I'm not sure how that will work out.

WA Unemployment bases calculations in a base year on a quarterly basis. So if your base year was 2019 and you were based in PHX (due to training) for 1Q then in the 2-4Q you were Seattle based you can collect unemployment based on the last three quarters of your base year even if you move out of state. Going forward, being LA based after April, you’ll have to claim in CA too, if allowed.

Go to WA State Employment Security and create an account, you should be able to see what you’ll get without starting a claim.

https://www.esd.wa.gov

I went through this process twice last decade, and it hasn’t changed much.

Good Luck to you guys. I flew with Compass for a year and a half, most fun I’ve ever had at a job and I hope everybody in the pilot group lands on their feet.
