I used to train guys for thier ATP in seminoles. I had less than 500 hours. I couldn't hold the certificate myself, but guys I trained passed thier checkrides...

Of course, I'm reading this thread to try and help prep for my Compass interview. We're well off topic...

Hi!

Interesting about the Line Pilots training.

At UPT, there were many FAIP (First Assignment Instructor Pilots). Because they went directly from a student to an instructor, they had no real-world experience. Bad idea.

The AF would have MUCH better training if ALL UPT instructors had at least one tour of duty in active flying, before coming back to teach.

Some of the FAIPs did a good job, but it was tough for them to compete with the "real" pilots.

Same is true for teaching K-12 teachers. The best instructors were the ones who were actively teaching K-12, not the college profs who NEVER did it, or did it 20+ years ago, and were out of touch.

Still off the subject....What kind of interview is compass doing now? Its the end of the year. I am sure they have figured out what kind of pilot they are looking for and ask the questions that they feel will best fit their mold. So what are they asking and how many do we think they are going to hire by the end of the year? Who at Compass just got a class date and what did they ask you? What are they looking for?
