Compass: To go or not to go?
I am a first officer considering to apply with compass, would anyone have any comments to help me consider my thoughts with applying with them. I would appreciate any comments about compass.

I was faced with the same decision, and I chose to leave XJT (2 years in) to go to Compass. It afforded me an increase in my QOL (I was commuting MSP-IAH) but I had to take a pretty significant paycut (but not like I was making a ton of $$ to begin with). Also, I moved to CPS because I would have a chance for a quicker upgrade (things got stagnant with no end in sight at XJT) and the possibility of a flowthrough (versus the risk of a flowback).
These are some of the options you have to consider. It was an easy move for me and I am very happy I did so. It is a good airline to work for, but you have to consider that the hiring is almost complete by now, so you will most likely spend significant time on reserve...

It looks like the flowthrough will apply to the new DAL, so if you like that part of the country (or can stomach it long enough) it might be worth it for that alone. Disclaimer: Every flowthough in the history of regional airlines has pretty much failed miserably.

This is also a question I have asked myself, I would do it to get back to living in Michigan. Living in the east coast for us midwest folks is a tough adjustment. I would also be taking a pay cut..but being close to family, being back in my home state...priceless.....so unless a miracle happens soon here at AWAC, I too will be looking to get out and back to my roots.

Anyway, the quick upgrade is long gone. If you get hired into the pool now, plan on being an F.O. for a while. But if you are from, or plan on moving to one of the bases, not a bad place to work.
P.S. for the AWAC guy: Every day I don't commute to or fly into Philly is a day I smile. Flying in and out of MSP and DTW as hubs is like a vacation everyday compared to the East coast shuffle.

Going to Compass is one of the best career move i've made so far. I was in your position this time last year and it was a hard choice to make but im glad i did it. Left Horizon for Compass and some people thought that was a stupid move but it's working out for me so far. If you are looking for the upgrade in under a year it wont happen anymore until the flow-up start. There are a lot of things that need improvment but it a new airline and they've dont a damn good job so far. It depends on what you want and whats most important to you. Sit down with your family and make the best decision for you!

But if you talk to any of the COEX guys that exercised the option of the ACTAUL flow through, they might have a much different viewpoint of what "failing miserably" entails.
