compass Upgrades??

Thanks everyone!
Speedbird, I fly out of the west coast and have a good job at the moment, but I am very weary about the future and if we do end up losing airplanes I want to make sure I have some back-up plans, just trying to see what my options are... Have stuff in w/ delta, swa, and such but I cant afford to wait a few years for them to call if my company goes belly-up tomorrow!
Anway thanks for all the replies, actually didnt know a whole lot about Compass but this forum has provided a lot of info and it doesnt sound like a bad place to work if I were to go to a regional (except for the commute)...

I've heard 12 FOs but nothing about new upgrades. Regardless, 12 FO's + 6 new CAs = only 6 more FOs. We're short at best guess 30 or so on the FO side; I've spent more time in the right seat this last month than in the left, and all of the other RSV CAs I know are saying the same.

If your job is at all secure, you don't want to come to Compass right now. At this point I'm making financial decisions based on the assumption that I'll be furloughed or at least downgraded by this time next year, and I'm over 2/3 of the way up the list. The potential for flowdown from NWA/DL essentially puts you at the absolute bottom of a nearly 13000 pilot list for the indefinite future. That's not really a place you want to be in this economy.

Hey guys, if any of you could answer a few questions.
The hiring happening right now, is it for people on a "hired" pool, or are they calling applicants not interviewed yet?. If so, can anyone give me a couple of pointers to make my app look a little "brighter" than others?.
Thanks...

It was my understanding that the 12 new hires will start imediately and have already been interviewed. I am in YUL right now and they already knew about them 2 days ago before the letter from JK was published. I think they have already called these ppl and sent them the CBT stuff to get started.
For anyone looking at Compass right now I think I would keep the job I had unless it was just going under. Like most are saying it isn't a good time to give up seniority unless you have too. "IF" things turn around Compass will be sitting pretty but it is a real gamble right now. I feel pretty comfortable where I am because I know it would take quite a while to train all those furloughs assuming they all take the flowback. Some wouldn't want to be locked in here for a year possibly being on FO pay. In fact some would likely make more on unemployement than working here if they were pushed back to FO.

How is it going in YUL in terms of CAE's new perception of Compass. I hear that Compass gave up some Sim slots after they figured we would all fly on our days off and they wouldnt have to hire much and now that they've finally admitted we are short they want those sim slots back for potentially more new hires. However, there is a big problem, those slots have been sold to Japan Airlines since Compass gave them up and didn't respond to whether or nor they wanted them by a certain date. Now the bigger heads at Compass are all mad at Mr in YUL....
Are you hearing any of that up there?

Appreciate the info. I'm a Comair furlough, so they way I look at it, where ever I end up next is likely to keep me. Don't foresee getting a call back for quite a while, and by then loosing 18 months seniority may not be so catastrophic. Any idea if Compass is going to hire anymore people?.

I heard that CPS did not buy any sim time in YUL and that if CAE had a buyer for that time, CAE would sell the time (first come, first serve).
I'm sure for 12 new hires, CPS can find the sim time somewhere in this world. Heck, even if its MS Flight Simulator.
