Can someone explain to me what will happen in Delta was to furlough 200 (arbitrary number) pilots? My main questions are... (based on the crazy assumption that all 200 take flowdown to compass)
1. Will this flush 2/3 of the pilot group out the door and offer all these guys positions?
2. If this is the case, do they start at the top of the seniority list? i.e. Does the most senior guy who is furloughed from DAL become the most senior Captain at Compass?
3. Are there any line pilots at Compass who are safe from this flow down or if enough are furloughed can it wipe the entire current seniority list?
4. If a DAL guy was to take a flowdown position at Compass he locked into Compass for a certain amount of time, or if he was recalled in 10 months does he just head back to DAL?
I only ask because I am interested in what is happening and what might happen to some people I know. I wish you guys all the luck and hope this announcement doesn't cause involuntary furloughs at either company.

1. Will this flush 2/3 of the pilot group out the door and offer all these guys positions? Yes
2. If this is the case, do they start at the top of the seniority list? i.e. Does the most senior guy who is furloughed from DAL become the most senior Captain at Compass?Yes
3. Are there any line pilots at Compass who are safe from this flow down or if enough are furloughed can it wipe the entire current seniority list?No one from compass has "flowed up" yet therefore all positions are eligible flowback positions. Once a cpz pilot is offered the flow UP then that changes the rules to where 10% are protected
4. If a DAL guy was to take a flowdown position at Compass he locked into Compass for a certain amount of time, or if he was recalled in 10 months does he just head back to DAL?there is no lock in time hence why they dont want to furlough people for a short period of time because it would be very expensive and not cost effective for a short term furlough. A flowback can be kept at CPZ for "operational necessity" though when recalls begin but if that happens that flowback is pay protected at the higher of their DAL pay rate or CPZ rate until allowed to come back

well in all fairness, Everyone at Compass new about the flow agreement when they took the job just as we did when we took the job at NWA and now DAL. Mesaba has around 10+ positions that are flowback positions also. fwiw
Lets hope for all of our sakes that we dont have to see the flow in action.

Sucks for Delta pilots too. If we wanted to be senior regional airline Captains, we'd have just remained at our prior jobs and not lost 10 years of longevity.
None of us applied at Delta to get jobs at Compass, that wasn't the idea. The union should have never outsourced the jobs to Compass to begin with AND Compass pilots should be Delta pilots.
If there is any silver lining, this will add to the crowd of people who believe Compass pilots should get Delta seniority numbers _ NOW!

Every one of us knew exactly what the deal was when we accepted the job. No surprise or remorse whatsoever if it happens.

I'll second that. It will be my third furlough. I knew the deal when I took the gig. I never thought the flow-up would happen and fully anticipated a flow-down/furlough. It was a place to stay current and grab another type rating. Nothing more.
