Only getting 6 E-170s now. 2 steps forward one step back is still better than usual in this industry I guess. But still... Bummer.

What happened? Are the other 6 scheduled to be delivered later or did the total number go down from 12 to 6?

Allegedly, another airline (non-US) stepped in an bought them out from under big D.

Talked with a CP, very optimistic. The funding is still there for more planes, I wouldn't be surprised to see more planes added in addition to the six announced, but probably in ones and twos instead if another batch of six. Was told hiring/upgrades will continue as planned for the rest of th year.

Hey thanks! I think what I'm trying to ask is if Compass is still a good opportunity for new hires, and your response is good news. I heard new hires were only sitting 1-2 months on reserve, would this still hold true in your opinion?

Going on month 4 Of reserve in May. Had a partial line this past month, but it doesn't pay if you live in base as it still only gets you 75hrs and 11 days off (even if you'll have 2 4 days worth 50 hrs). More work same pay. I'll take my chances on call.

I think it is a very good opportunity for a new hire. The sooner you are in class the better the chances, so yes, very good chances of getting off reserve quickly.

Hiring is continuing as scheduled up to 80 total new hires (likely 60 - 70) to account for the 6 new planes, attrition, and increased reserve staffing (to maintain the same % of pilots on reserve in each base).

If hired, you WILL get a PIC type, whether through upgrade or going through the PanAm course if you quit before upgrade. This is straight from the Director of Training.

We were told today in class that Delta needs the additional capacity in the 70 - 80 seat market, and is "actively pursuing" other options for 6 more E170/175s for CPS. Why the E175 over the CR9? I have no idea...I'll believe it when I see the signed contract, but it sounds promising. Regardless, we will be actively hiring through the end of the year...unless of course oil hits $175 / barrel, a world war breaks out, the economy tanks again, or aliens attack...u never know :p Expect the unexpected, but don't plan around it!
