I stand by my statements. I'll get back in touch with you in about 1-2 years and we'll discuss the operation at that time. As I stated before..good luck

Eh having been here since near the beginning, here's my 2¢....
For now, Compass treats their pilots fairly well for a regional. I have called in sick a number of times and never been questioned in the least. I have called in fatigued, and the ACP thanked me for doing the safe thing. The schedules seem to be fairly productive (very productive in my case, but that's the seniority talking). From what I hear, crew sked is pretty good about working with commuters - giving reserves RAPs that allow them to commute in/out same day, for example. Our current CP isn't perfect but he's a huge improvement on the last A-hole everyone hated, and the presumptive next CP (current MSP ACP) is a great guy, very fair, a pilot's CP. I had my qualms about Mx when I came here. I came from an airline that did most Mx inhouse and Compass outsources everything. That said I've had no complaints. Nobody *****es about writeups, and they actually make an effort to fix things instead of automatically deferring them. It's actually not horribly common to get a DMI on a non-cosmetic item. Dispatch was a shambles when I got here, and stayed that way for a while. It's finally better now, I still go over their work with a fine-tooth comb but don't find nearly as many gross screwups as I did a few years ago. The flight attendants are a very mixed bag. The company treats them horribly, turnover is high, and sometimes it seems they'll hire anyone with a pulse. It's actually surprising they're able to attract any good ones, and we do have some very good ones. Bad thing is they're just as likely to be arbitrarily fired as the horrible ones. The real question is whether things will go downhill under Hulas. If you look at TSA/GJ, the future looks dark, but thus far they've been kinda content to leave us on our own. No appreciable changes in mx, hotels, etc. The lawsuit they filed against ALPA is a bad sign...I just heard it got settled or dismissed, though. |
Anyone on here know who the admin is for the compass pilot forums is? I registered a couple months ago (nov hire) and still never got approved or a response. Feel free to PM

As in worse, but no Hulas if that's your criteria. |

Does anyone know if Compass is running an April FO class? How many? Is there a pool or are they still running interviews?

To answer your hiring question, I spoke with the MSP chief pilot last week. He informed me that they are hiring about 25-30 pilots. Looking for people with ATP mins, multi time is reduced to 500 not the 1000 as previously required.
Also, spoke with a person from the training department, and was informed that Compass will hire 40-45 over the next 12 months and about 40 upgrades. |
What are they hiring for?
|
Attrition, I assume. Unless oil prices really go through the roof (a possibility given recent events in the middle east) it is expected that Delta will run a few classes towards the end of the year, with 20 Compass ppl taken per month. In addition, we've been losing a few people every month to other airlines & jobs outside the airlines.
There are some rumors going around of new aircraft, in particular 6-10 EMB170s currently owned by Virgin Blue in Australia. I very much doubt they're coming here. |
Just talked to MSP CP and he told me that they are planning for five classes, but might as many as eight.

Wow. What is the staffing model used at CZ? Is it by block hours or airframe?
With the current number of aircraft operated (36) the pilot seniority list has been as high as 430 (with flows waiting to go to Delta) and as low as 320 bidding. That is one heck of a range for operating the same number of A/C. Currently reserve staffing is very low in MSP and almost 50% of the crews in DTW are on reserve. (DTW is a small base) But reserve levels change every month. (And this is not summer time yet, when we are absolutely swamped) |

I never saw it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't on there. |
Confirmed via company email
|
My phone has been blowing up with messages about it this afternoon. It is odd that they were hiring all those pilots with no flow through in the near future and the statement that "They Will Hold all Future Flows the Full 90 days" I guess just because they can. So no imediate need to replace a mass exodus so the new planes makes more sense.
The question from who? And how many more 70 seaters are allowed? Is Comair or someone else losing them or something? |

We're in the process of parking over a hundred 50s (130ish down to 16), but we have no 170s on property to give to Compass. If we're parking 700s or 900s it hasn't been announced yet. |
Could anyone hired at Compass recently tell me whats involved in the medical exam after you get hired? Is it just like your standard 1st class medical?
|
Standard 1st class , hearing test, and EKG
Bring any waivers (colorvison or medication type things)...wasn't a big deal. Done mostly by the nurse, with the doc reviewing at the end, the doc was a nice guy. |

Going to be a bust year for HR and training. If any flow ups should occur near the end of the year it will be really fun! |
