I am surprised they are not picking up any furloughed netjet guys.

Why, they would leave when recalled!!!

No matter.

There are pilots at Compass flying the line now with recall rights to most of the airlines that you can think of that have people on furlough right now (Sun Country, XJT, United, and so on). Additionally there are many with lots of PIC time from Champion, Aloha, ATA, and others that are waiting out the downturn but most likely will take another job offer instantly if it makes sense to their personal situation.

They obviously have a return on investment calculation in mind as to how long they have to keep a pilot around in order to make their money back. I don't think that the 30 month flow number came out of thin air. I imagine that at that point compass/delta makes a sizable return on their low cost labor investment. I don't think its any skin off their nose if a furloughed accepts a recall past say 20 months. They very intelligently hired the experience that was available back a few years ago from furloughee's all over the place and have made their money back. Now that movement is starting in spots around the industry, Net Jets guys and first officers from other regionals are great longer term investment picks.

I guess it's better to take furloughed guys as they'll stick around a few years, then leave when recalled. Hence their pay rates stay low.

so guys, it looks as if your flow will actually remain intact - something few thought would ever happen. As a guy who turned down a class date which would have had me in the top 100 in the company i say congrats if it does hold true. There was just to much risk at the time for me to make the move. This industy is all about timing and luck. Good luck!

I have a interview at Compass in 10 days. I have a question about my medical.

When I filled out the online app, one of the questions was if I had a First Class medical issued in the last six months. At that time I did, but as of now I have a first class medical issued in the last 8 months. However, because of the new FAA rule change and my age, my first class medical is good for one year, not six months.

Has any one had this issue? Should I pay the $100 for a new medical just to meet the requriments of the application even though I have a perfectly valid first class medical with first class privelages?

Yah, if you are serious and want a job there, I would do what they tell you and what the requirements say.

I second that. Go and get the new medical. Jobs are too hard to come by these days.....
