In previous posts of his I believe he has mentioned his job is in Africa and he has to be over there for extended periods of time. I'm guessing he would like to be home more with his family.

His avatar says he is a DC-9 CA, just wondered why he wants to give that up for the right seat at Compass.

That may be. However for some, year 1 at Compass would be a paycut from unemployment. For me at least, 3 years flying 121 is worth more than $22/hr or whatever it is.
Take this for what it is worth, but Compass right now is in an intense competition with Mesa, TSA, Go-Jet, Colgan and CommutAir to see who could be the worst |
Hi!
Yeah, I am in NBO, on what was supposed to be a 165 day trip, which now has been extended indefinitely. I think it will end up at about a 270 day trip, which is rather long. It will help me to get on newer equipment, and at Compass I can upgrade to captain in about a year, and then go to DAL, or I could leave if I had to and fly on a great commuting contract in Asia. My best pilot friend is at Compass, after being laid off from Spirit (via TSA), and he is liking it, overall. cliff NBO |

And on that paycut from unemployment, you are expected to get paid 18.5 hours for a 30 day ground school and have to pay for you own housing during ground and simulator training in MSP. That's worst than Mesa from what I'm hearing from a few guys. At least Mesa provide a dorm like housing during training.

While I agree that Compass is a good place to work, I also have to agree that when it comes to new hires, Compass is probably the worst airline today.
Low pay for 30 days, no hotel for training, no plane ticket for training, first year pay lasts 14-15 months. Is there anyone else out there with that combination? |
Hi!
My buddy and I were at Trans States. He is at Compass now and likes it (he is an FO). He did NOT like Trans States. He was also at Spirit. Take this for what it is worth, but Compass right now is in an intense competition wrong... with Mesa Not Hiring-guys are furloughed, TSA, Not Hiring-guys are furloughed, Go-Jet, I do NOT think they are hiring now... Colgan They ARE hiring, and I assure you, that Compass is LIGHT YEARS better! CommutAir I do not think they are hiring, and see "Colgan", above to see who could be the worst While I agree that Compass is a good place to work, I also have to agree that when it comes to new hires, Compass is probably the worst airline today. The worst and ONLY??? Low pay for 30 days, no hotel for training, no plane ticket for training, first year pay lasts 14-15 months. Is there anyone else out there with that combination? No. Because no one else is hiring... NBO |
So that makes it OK then?
