Does anybody know if you can use 121 sim time from training toward your required 1,000 121 minimum to act as PIC? The reg seems somewhat vague on that. Trying not to make assumptions, but if you can use up to 100 hours of simulator time towards the 1500 rule, maybe it would then also count towards the minimums to be a captain? Thanks.

If you're pretty young, you're in a good situation to sit back and enjoy upgrading when you think you're ready and have a bunch of pilots below you. That's not to say you shouldn't go for it, but just be ready for the times the FO won't catch you making a mistake. |
Congrats to the new FOs on the quick upgrade. But, remember you need to know CPZ policies, procedures, and limitations cold. I've been flying with FOs who are good enough pilots but just don't know the FOM/AOM well enough. It's exciting to be able to hold captain, I know. But, consider flying the line a bit longer than you technically have to in order to become comfortable with this airline first.

Guess you're one of the guys he's talking about. Sad part is, most of them don't know it. Only flew with a couple who have the time, but chose to bypass for a couple of extra months since this was going to be their first 121 PIC gig. It's not rocket science, but it is big step up for a lot of people.
Good luck. Congrats on the upgrade. |

Hey Tunes how much heavy MIL PIC do you have again? ;) Just read "Heavy". Got it. Not sure why he had to put in his .02 about the good advice above though... |
