I don't think it's true. I just had a long layover over Thanksgiving and got both. The language in the CBA is confusing. It looks like if you have a schedule over the holiday you get the extra 4 hours regardless of what you do. At least my Flica schedule shows both. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You get 4 hours of pay for doing anything over a holiday; whether it's sitting reserve at home, airport reserve, working that day or sitting in FAI. That part is actually written well.

The new chief pilots are brand new to this company, too.

Here is the language from the contract... Holiday Pay A Pilot who is assigned to and performs Flight duty or Reserve duty on New Year’s Day, Easter Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day shall receive four (4) hours of pay in addition to any other Pay Time, including any guarantee pay (e.g., monthly line guarantee, BSTG). |

I think you guys have it wrong about getting 4 hours of holiday pay for 30 hour layovers and possibly sitting non-airport reserve. The contract says performing flight duty or reserve duty on the holiday. I thought the reserve that counted as reserve duty in this case was ready reserve and since a 30 hour layover doesn't include flight duty, you don't get it in that case either. I've only heard from pilots with 30 hour layovers and regular reserve duty did not get the holiday pay.

UUU. “Reserve” means a non-flying availability period assigned to a Reserve or Build-Up Pilot. Reserve duty will be classified Reserve Duty or Ready Reserve. I'm lead to think that we should get it. But that's just my 10 second opinion while watching football |
I would argue with you that you should get it on any type of reserve, but since it says flight duty, I have a feeling if they decide to not give it to you during a 30 hour layover, you maybe out of luck.
The language should have read that you get holiday pay for any holiday that falls in a trip or that you aren't on rest. |
