Is Compass the place to be?

Is Compass the place to be?
Compass is taking delivery on 12 E170s this year, and 340 of 390 pilots on their seniority list have flow rights to Delta. With the reduction of the 50 seat market, and the expansion of the 70+ seat market; is Compass the place to go?

Depends what your looking for. Pay low, upgrade will not be long, but who knows compass is part of DCI and that is not safe. Owned by Transtates, which owns Compass, Gojet, and transtates, do you really think the Owner (the worst in the industry, makes JO look good) will play nice when contracts come up. He will start to move aircraft around like water. If your saying he won't do that, then well what ever, They all do it and he has done it in the past, and your MEC will be young and inexperienced just ripe to get a whooping. Eagle Which has its own problems will hire more 340 by late may and plans to hire 680 by December and continue into next year. Not sure if ASA/XJT hiring still but I'd go there before Compass, they have long term problems too. So really just put in your stuff anywhere, get hired and get out. But I wouldn't say Compass is the place to be.

To give you another viewpoint from within Compass, at this particular moment I think Compass is a good choice. Not for the long term, but you aren't safe at any regional long term. Expanding the fleet by 33% is huge, anyone who gets on in the front end of this hiring wave should have about a 2 year upgrade maybe less if Delta hires. Once contract time comes up in a few years things will start to get ugly and you would probably be around to see it. The good side of that is that Delta has about 9 years left in their contract with Compass so barring loopholes and lawyers hopefully we won't have too much risk of loosing flying till then. So far Transstates management hasn't changed too much around here. It doesn't mean I trust them, but I haven't seen my life get worse or anything cause of them, at least not yet. In fact if we hadn't been sold to TSH we'd never be getting new planes in the fleet. Anyone who tells you they know the right chioce is lying, all you can do is take your best guess. Bottom line though Compass is growing right now and Delta will have to hire if not this year certainly next (unless more craziness happens in the industry and we all get hosed.)

my opinion is if you live in either DTW or MSP, compass would be a great fit. If you live in base at any other airline, take a long look at going there. The worst schedule living in base is still better than the best schedule commuting.
Those are my thoughts, take it for what its worth.

Compass has been the regional to be at the last 4 years. Better get in now in front of the huge hiring wave. Competely disagree with samballs about going to asa/xjt before Compass. No where else is the potential to move up the senority list the greatest than Compass.

I moved to Compass becuse the upgrade is going to be relatively quick. Compass and Mesaba are the only airlines with a guaranteed source of attrition. The flow to Delta. Compass still has around 340 more pilots with flow rights and the vast majority of our pilots that can flow, will flow because of TSH. At other regional, pilots still have to pass an interview to move on. 340 pilots at Compass have the rights to a class at Delta. The numbers say that Delta will have to hire quite a bit over the next few years. That's if Delta doesn't shrink to nothing.

All regionals are ****. Some have almost reasonable contracts, but they all suck in the end.
Go where the movement is. Three years ago it was RAH, Now?...
Take that for what it's worth -- which is nothing -- because it doesn't matter where you end up, you'll find a certain degree of misery regardless.
