RE MX issues:
Put things in perspective. Our airplanes are on average flying 16-18 hours a day. That gives 6 hours give or take for them to get some seriously heavy maintenance done. A PAC change, APU change, etc...not an easy task. Think of all the fittings, o rings, torque checks, MX operational checks, it all takes time. Six hours for an APU change? Or PAC change, etc? Top of my prime I don t know if I d be able to do it. More bodies helps, and while I don t know our current MX staffing levels, we may only have 2-3 guys assigned to heavy MX. Or our current model only takes care of line stuff.
We all know how the gremlin chasing goes. Power reset, it's still there. Then these guys have to chase it. Not an easy task by far. If it's a serious infestation then yah, 6 hours isn't going to cut it.
From personal experience, you can either rush a job or do it right. There's something to be said for doing things efficiently. Again, I am not a line mechanic for us, BUT, those that I have met are consummate professionals. There are some great contract guys out there as well and I feel for them as they don t all work on the same bird.
In summary, our MX guys are fairly solid. I feel confident in a LOT of their work, but as always, "Trust but verify".

Can you unsubscribe from the comply daily emails? I'm tired of deleting 1000 emails that I never look at.

In all honesty, no I don t think you can. But, I m fairly certain with a bit of effort you can create a filter to eliminate some of the unnecessary stuff. It's all whatever client dependent stuff you throw up there, but you can filter it to only show things like "PAY" or "BID", etc.
I d also not recommend it because yes, as much of a pain in the butt as it is, there are some important things that do come out via that medium.

But then you'll miss out on all the critical pay, rumor control (is OO still buying us [heavy sarcasm here]), and other important and not so important facets of Compass.

Anybody here actually been to one of those ALPA job workshop things, like the one in LAX this week? Is it worth it? Did you learn anything magical? I signed up for it but I've been getting over a cold and not sure I want to get up at 0300 to catch a 0500 jumpseat to LAX if it's not going to be useful.

Are we expected to bring much? I was thinking bringing my first draft resume and some note paper. Also is there any one-on-one stuff or more just group presentations?
