Come on guys, this is childish. At any other job that requires a specific uniform, you wear it. Period. What is it with some pilots and hating hats? Your employer says wear the hat, so wear the hat when you are in the airport, its easy. Its not a safety issue, its not a procedure, its a uniform. Plain and simple. Do I like hats? No. I would prefer we did not have them. But I understand the image the public expects to see. Right now my employer wants us to wear hats, so I wear the hat. We all know that a hat doesnt make a pilot, but the flying public puts almost all trust in us based off appearance.
I also am embarrassed at how unprofessional some pilots look(this goes for all airlines). I must emphasize "some". A very small ammount. But enough for me to notice someone nearly everyday. It wont kill you to iron your pants or shirt once in a while, or have properly fitting clothes. Take pride in your career, and quit looking like you just rolled out of bed. This isnt really an issue at compass, but there are a few.
You signed on the dotted line, so wear the hat until the policy changes. The flying public can hardly handle it when their pilots dont look like Sully. So when you are as young as we are it's in your best interest to look as professional as possible. Grow up and wear the uniform as is currently expected of you. If we get the hat policy removed, great! If not, great. We have bigger fish to fry.

I think what has set people off is that in the CP newsletter it mentions it looks negatively on the codeshare partners when we don't wear the hat, however someone made a good point, AA doesn't have a hat requirement, and every other DCI carrier like Endeavor, Skywest, etc don't require the hat. So don't bring down the "codeshare doesn't like it" when we're probably the smallest Delta connection carrier and the only one who has to wear a hat...
I also get horrible hat hair so I look even less professional saying goodbye to PAX after a flight because it makes it look like I just woke up

JS is not the same guy he was at Republic. He's now become a "yes man" and not a "pilot's pilot". At RAH, our hat policy coincided with the blazer. So when it's 100 degrees out you weren't required to wear the hat. It's called common sense. Who wants a sweaty head because of a stupid hat? Our code share partners don't care. He's just blowing smoke. Kind of embarrassed of his behavior and the way he talks down to the pilot group.

The whole point is there so adamant about the hat, yet they don't say a word about people that are fat slobs with wrinkled as hell shirts, hair looks they haven't put a comb through it in years, high water pants, and smell like they haven't showered.

Has anyone received disciplinary action for not wearing the hat? Even so much as a run in chiefs telling you to put it on in the terminal, van, or walking out the crew room? Just curious. I never had either issue.

Much ado about hats.
Proof positive pilots will always find something to complain about.
Smile, wear your hat when it's reasonable to wear your hat, look like a professional. Is there really more to say on the issue? That goes for both sides, too, I think there are bigger fish to fry for CP management right now than a couple of pilots not wearing their hats. Plenty of other codeshare partners for DL and AA don't wear hats, we aren't unique. How about that Delta Guaranteed Interview we were promised, work on that... or RNP .3... or going and getting more flying... or how the hell we're going to staff this airline when attrition goes soaring this winter.
