The other thing YV has going for them besides the cheap labor is they already provide lift for UA and have all of their back end software in place, etc. Not sure if that would play a role in them getting the additional birds or not though

Mesa underbidding us already happened once before and I think this time around MW et al will be all over it so the Sunday to Monday news don't happen again - if Compass really wants the flying that is. These 12 United birds are literally the only immediate flying we could get in the near future anyway.

Mesa may be having more difficulties to staff than us at the moment, or at least, immediate availability of crews to provide an immediate surplus of flying that United may need. I am just babbling, but, Compass should do everything in its power to win that contract (short of concessions obviously).

Just had two compass crews deadheading on my flight, two of them separately came up to the flight deck and introduced themselves, on a DH! Classy move fellas, happy to have you onboard.

Call me a grinch but this sounds like a nuisance to me.

I know where you're coming from but per normal etiquette they didn't interrupt and waited until we were done talking before speaking up. I wasn't annoyed at all.

I do sometimes. Just depends on how things are going. If its busy, no. But when one of the pilots is in the galley or something, or if we are allowed to board early I definitly say hi and thanks for the ride. Just professional courtesy in my opinion, especially if they let us board early.

These are the same people that give up their seat to sit in the jumpseat only to be kicked off later due to weight restrictions. Board with your group, sit down, and go to sleep.
