Also, last day of reserve assignment you can self release at 1800 (short call) 11:00 (LCR). DO NOT CALL THEM ! They might be able to assign you something, I saw this happen to a new guy, he got assigned a turn and then couldn't commute home.

Possible? Yes, in a strictly technical sense...Yes they CAN release you. Now WILL they release you early? I wouldn't count on it.

From what I gather from the FOs I have been flying with recently there are a bunch of them on reserve and they aren't flying a whole lot because of that. So I would imagine of a lot of them are picking up stuff left and right.

I guess people are not dropping as much as they use to or everyone figured out how to use the new system and are grabbing the open trips. and with 59 FOs on reserve in LAX, there is not much to go around.

and if anyone is still tracking such things..
I was hired in July, ... still can not even get a buildup line. So much for
"you guys will only be reserve for 2-3 months", lol

Quite sure he means that they pick up flying on their off days because they don't do anything on their reserve days (and it's paid over guarantee).

Is IOCC letting you do that? or do they call scheduling and ask for a trip?

If you're on reserve you should be able to pick up any open time on your day off and it goes above guarantee. I'm sure an email to trip trade might be a good idea to make sure payroll knows about it, but reserves are definitely allowed to pick up trips on their off days on their own.
