I think a $17,500 retention bonus will go a lot further than the company thinks. So much so that it should have been offered before a signing bonus. That money in addition to an across the board pay raise would make Captains and FOs alike that are leaving for LCCs think twice about that decision. If you can keep people on property for even another year it will greatly reduce training costs as well as the burden to hire replacement pilots. Although it's great the company is handing out more incentives to come here, as usual, they are doing things in completely the wrong order and will only end up paying more money for it.
My fear is that this cost influx will lead to us seeing emails later on saying things along the lines of "due to our increased costs we are now forced to renegotiate for better paying CPAs with our mainline partners". Those emails, in my experience, typically lead bankruptcy notices by about 6 months. Without knowing what our revenue vs. costs actually look like I am not saying that is what is going to happen. Just that it is a concern I have. I, like most of us here, wish management would do things the right way instead of putting band aids on top of band aids.
Please note: I am not trying to fear monger and am only stating a concern I have. I would be more than happy to be told why I am wrong in real dollar and cents.

I'm a transitioning military rotary wing pilot that will be interviewing with airlines shortly and have a couple questions.
What do your trips usually look like (legs, days, flight hours)?
What's usually the rest period you receive when you're on overnights?
Does the company put you up in hotels that are comfortable enough and not skeevy?
Any other information on QOL while flying for the company would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Rest period is at least 10 hours from doors open to report time. I usually have at least 12 and average around 16ish all month. There are some 18-24 hours spread out. It all depends on how you bid.
Hotels are usually really nice. Wish we had more free breakfasts but oh well. The union is pretty good at getting new hotels if something occurs that is not satisfactory (construction noise, crime in area).
QOL is pretty good especially if you are west coast. New raise to $41 and possibly a $17.5k bonus for new guys. Lots of great people work here and the typical complaints about management are typical for regionals.

max 5 legs per day (contract), max 5 day trips, hours per day vary greatly. Most the time a senior person wants to fly a lot and be done. So the more senior you are the better and shorter your trips. I personally enjoy day trips, so that's what I get! Some people like 3-4 day trips.
What's usually the rest period you receive when you're on overnights?
Min of 10 hours rest per part 117. Most I've seen is 30 hours but lately that's less common. 24 hours for sure.
Does the company put you up in hotels that are comfortable enough and not skeevy?
ALPA has done a good job at working to keep us n good hotels, at least from my experience. Nothing really Skeevy. It'd be like the AF vs Army
Any other information on QOL while flying for the company would be greatly appreciated.
Good quality of life if you live in base or close, and commutable if you want. You can get up to 4 hotels a month for commuting. Once you hold a line commuting is a lot easier than on reserve (on call). PM me if you have any other questions or want a referral!
