Default Management Companys

After being in a "bubble"(part 91) for the last 15 years I was a little surprised after interviewing with a few management companies.

I don't want to get into specifics on a forum but I was surprised that these companies had things missing that are required for safe, effective flights.

The DO's I met are not very knowledgeable with bad personality's. Are there some good management companies out there? If you don't know the pilot group how do you get info? Most are too small to be on forums.

I’m curious to know what was “missing”...

I have friends and acquaintances that have a VERY good understanding of regs and what it takes to operate large cabin jets. They know they have to either help make changes or get out.

Good people in bad situations! I'm currently looking for a good company to land at. Their(management companies) brochures all look "glossy" but pretty weak behind the scenes. I'm not painting all with the same brush....I'm sure there are some great companies out there.

This thread lacks good grammar and details.

I didn’t work at either company, but Jet and EJM have good reputations. I was audited once by EJM and it was character-building. Very thorough, asked in depth questions and expected compliance.

Jokes aside, I'm very curious to know what these missing things are. I work for a big management company myself.

Agreed, too cryptic to really gauge what the OP is talking about.

I’ve always figured the mom-and-pop 91 departments were the ones with the potential for not having their administrative ducks in a row. Seems to me that’s the point of going with a management firm; they have the policies, procedures and back office stuff pretty well in hand.

No personal experience with big name management companies, but have heard good things about Solairus out west.

Agree with Mink - Solairus is a strong management company. Jet Aviation, a worldwide management company, is very strong!

Jet Linx is pretty solid. Very safety-oriented, good company culture.
