I agree with BoilerUp--The CE500 had good versatility as well as the CE525 type which covers the CJ, CJ1, CJ2,CJ3, and the new CJ+'s with the improved avionics/FADEC etc. You could opt for a cheaper "poor man's type" at a smaller program and once you get the job, your new employer would only have to pay for reccurent at FSI. I did this at SDL and got my type fairly inexpensively. I can give you the name of the place if you are interested. The only disadvantage with the CJ series is that it is a single pilot rated airplane and the owner-pilot types love them.

I'd go with a falcon or gulfstream type if you can swing it. Those are going to be your better paying corp jobs.

First it is not Cheep as Im sure you know. I work part time at FSI and a Hawker type is 35,000 it is good for all the hawker series through from the 700 on up so you have some flexability. A GV type is 50,000 but if you have one it shouldn't be to much of a problem finding work even if it is as a contract pilot at first. You can make around 1,000 a day and up plus expenses. Good luck.

As far as different aircraft models on a single type rating go, a LRJET type covers the Learjet 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 31, 35, 36 and 55.
Because of their high fuel burn, loud engines, cost of updates (RVSM, TAWS) more and more 20 Series Lears are being parked. They burn the same on the ground at idle as at FL410. 30 and 50 series will be around for a long time to come. Lear airframes are not time limited.
If you like aircraft with great performance, go for Lear type. If you prefer some more comfort and are not in a great hurry, pick the CE-500 type.

However, when you go to get you're type rating you'll be exposed to a class of students comming from all sorts of companies. Don't forget the instructors too. They know a lot of people in the industry, including those who are looking for pilots.
