Maybe smaller airplane jobs are safer, but in today's market I wouldn't be pushing QOL issues at all. A 45million dollar airplane doesn't go fly because a particular person wants/needs a day off ... market is tough. It isn't changing for the better anytime soon either ... be careful out there!

In my opinion, who and where you work for makes all the difference. There are good corporate jobs and poor ones. I have had both, unfortunately I am in a poor one now. Keep looking for your specific quality of life, it is a tough market but being a pilot isn't easy!

I used to fly for someone like you describe. The owners wife once told me " I couldnt be to tired to fly her cause I had flown on autopilot so it wasnt like I was really working". My fo and I had just flown a CJ from SMO to FMY to PIE got to PIE at 0600 and she wanted to go to TEB at 0800. Wasnt at all unhappy when they sold the plane.

QOL.........Starting out you're looking for experience, being able to put food on the table, and if you get a day off every now and than that's a bennie. You still have snot-bubbles and you're bragging about flying a jet. The longer you stay in the business, the more the QOL and pay becomes important for you and your family. You've paid your dues, Jet-A is Jet-A and stability is just as important too.
Guess it depends where you are personally in the big picture of life.
