Default Disability question

I had a question about going on work disability. 3 months ago, I had a small operation that disqualifies me for a 1st class medical. I"m confident that I will get my medical back...I just don't know when. The FAA moves slower than the post office. Meanwhile, I went on short term disability which is 80% of my pay. They recently contacted me and said that my doctors note runs out next week and my checks will stop coming. I feel fine and would go back to work today if the FAA would sign off on it. My doctor concurs therefore he will not write another note.
The huge corporation I fly for doesn't quite understand that the FAA is the determining factor of when I return to work...not my doctor that did the work on me.
My question is this....how do I continue to collect my disability when I'm as healthy as I've ever been? The FAA WILL be clearing me but I just don't know exactly how long it will take.
Thanks

I think you need to get ahold of AOPA. I think they can help you here a lot more than anyone else

+1 on AOPA. They were a huge help when I ran into some medical stuff a few years ago. Especially being corporate, and not having a network of coworkers and union folks to talk to.

Good luck.

Also, try your AME. They could probably give a lot of advice.

I had the same issue. Under my company's disability insurance they stated that "loss of license" didn't count. They paid for a long while but after many arguments about why I couldn't go back to work, they decided that they didn't want to understand the process and cut me off. I had them contact OKC and everything and they still decided against it.
Good luck with keeping it. I am curious as to what your disability insurance company is.
