Default GoJet question

Ok guys, I have a question and I would like an honest answer. This is not some flamebait thread, so serious responses only please......

I am furloughed from Spirit in Sept and on the job search. I was looking at the airline profiles on APC and I saw that GoJet is now union(teamsters). I know that a few years ago flying for GoJet was not the thing to do...and let me say that I am 100% pro union, and would never do anything to go against any of my union brothers. I was curious if anything had changed over there or with their reputation in the regional community. I have never flown for a regional, and have only been a 121 pilot for 9 months, so please excuse me if this question seems stupid or offensive to anyone. I am just trying to figure out what my options are.

Thanks to all who can help.

I don't think Go Jet is hiring right now. A lot of companies are saying they are hiring but only accepting applications.

If you're 100% pro-union and GoJets is Teamsters, there shouldn't be a "problem."

Don't worry about what people on this board or any others have to say.

I dont even think Gojet is part of the Aviation Union that Teamsters has...they arent in the same Union that RAH is in...im sure of it

So in my opinion...Union-Yes.......Justafiable?-They Think So
100% Bogus???- You Betcha!

If you look at all the previous "locked" Gojet threads....you'll seem to find that at the max...maybe 3 people try and defend the company and try to evangelize it.....the rest of us? well...not soo much

GoJets was created as an anti-union tactic. Trans States Airlines' scope says any alter-ego carrier the holdings company creates must be flown by TSA pilots. The company forced reduced wages and benefits to fly larger aircrafts during a time when the company was flourishing. TSA pilots voted "no" and before you know it, GoJets was born. I can't believe Teamsters represents them, as the whole scheme was to degrade pilot pay and quality of life. If you fly for them, you will not be respected by other pilots and as far as I'm concerned, you are contributing to the degradation of pilot lifestyles at the regionals.

For, Captscott26. In 05 TSA was awarded 10 CRJ7 to fly for United. TSA had a problem because AA doesn't let their Connection carriers fly 50+ seaters, period. GJ was created to get around this. Of course the pilot group was offered the flying. However, naturally what a bottom feeder place like TSA offered as far as pay wasn't great, it was about the same as the current Mesa CRJ7 pay +- $1. Contract was more of the same. The shady TSA MEC who later even moved to GJ after the debacle screwed the TSA pilot group, many of the pilots that I talked to were FOR the CRJ7 flying, however after repeated attempts, the flying was voted down. End of story.

So GJ was created as a separate airline and the gates were open for street pilots. Initially pay was low and tensions were high but GJ became Union got better CRJ7 pay and a pretty good contract for a regional. Now we will double the operation by next year with the arrival of 10 more airplanes with another 30 or so options to come. A lot of former 121 ALPA guys joining the club. Unfortunately there still are bitter people out there but it is what it is, pilots vs pilots. It's a nice place to fly and despite what you might have heard, we're not degrading the industry, look at the company. CAs are being hired including all the major airlines. Take it for what it is.
