Do people get hired at majors after working at GoJets?

Do those who cross picket lines get hired at majors?

I think the answer to the above questions is "yes"

With the job market as competitive as it is, are you willing to lessen your
chances for your dream job?
My dream job in aviation is one where I get plenty of time off and a decent wage. For me that does not necessarily mean going to the majors.

As I stated in my previous posts, I've talked to people from all parts of the industry. The vast majority think the petty fights like this are stupid. The only people who are iffy on whether I should go to GoJet are young regional pilots or guys out flying checks. I would imagine that's due to the fact that other young guys are scaring them out of going there. The whole issue is blown out of proportion on these and other forums. If guys with 35 years of experience in the aviation industry are saying to go there and guys 3 years of experience are saying not to, it's hard to justify ignoring the guys with more experience. Not only is that aviation industry experience but it's also just life experience in general. I imagine some of the difference is that older people are way less idealistic.

Is GoJet a good place to work? No
Is GoJet a bad place to work? No
Is the current contract pretty average? Yes
Is the only reason not to go there because people suddenly decide you're a bad person? Yes

As far as screwing over TSA pilots, I am a TSA pilot and I already feel pretty screwed over. Going to GJ will not cause a TSA pilot to lose his/her job. It will cause a TSA pilot to have a job again. So all those people out there who say they're doing this because GJ is screwing TSA need to realize that the people hurt the most are the ones at the bottom of the ladder and all you're doing is hurting those people more. I was never naive enough to think I was getting a great job when I started at the regionals. To me it was a means to an end, and it still is.

It may be true that guys are going from GJ to majors because the guys doing the hiring do not care or do not know what happened. But wait 5-10 more years when the guys on the hiring boards at the majors are the now current regional guys that know and do care about what happened between TSA/GJ.

"I've talked to people from all parts of the industry. The vast majority think the petty fights like this are stupid."

I got an email from a UPS Capt one time who asked me for advice on Gojet cause his son was thinking about going there (he knew I was active at aviation career message boards). I told him about how Gojet was formed and about how I hear many speak ill of the place. He turned around and told me how only whiners post at these boards and that it's silly to listen to any of it.

Default a fair contract??

tsa pilots were offered a 4 or 5 year contract extension (or longer, i forget) on an already outdated contract. also, crappy 70-seat pay and a decrease in cola to 1.5%, all while tsa was flourishing. would you have voted yes? so airwillie, please dont say that we were offered the flying and simply turned it down.

Last I heard, his son took the job at GoJets.

Even though it happened in the past, by accepting the job, you are becoming a part of an organization and taking on everything that comes with it.

.....I am in no way saying GoJet, its employees, or anyone related to them are Nazis or in the KKK. .
Uh... that's exactly what you're saying. Look, it's very naive to base your opinions on why someone goes to an airline for that reason. When was the last time you looked at your airlines history and the reasons why it was created and who they screwed over along their years in existence. As copper said, regionals are a means to an end, nothing more unless you don't mind 60K per year in exchange for 20 days off per month.

If TSA had kept me I would have never looked for GJ, but life troughs a few curve balls so you act accordingly. I know there are hard core TSA guys out there who would have said go work at Mcdonalds, but it's hard to not sound like a hypocrite unless you've been in some one else shoes.
