Plus 1. I've never paid for one, and don't plan on it. (Even if it's a "pay for it now, and we'll reimburse you over the next 12 months" kind of deals) If they want to hire a professional, train and compensate as such.

...but if we're just talking hypothetical...Falcon 50, because it could help me secure a cushy Part 91 gig out of my home airport.

Unless you've a specific gig lined up, a type has little value without experience in the type. I wouldn't absolutely rule out buying a rating, but I wouldn't do so without some assurance of a return on my "investment". Picking a type rating out of a hat is poor money and career management.

The company I'm interviewing for has these in their fleet. Just don't know which one they will assign me yet.
