What type rating would you choose?

Plus 1. I've never paid for one, and don't plan on it. (Even if it's a "pay for it now, and we'll reimburse you over the next 12 months" kind of deals) If they want to hire a professional, train and compensate as such.

Unless you've a specific gig lined up, a type has little value without experience in the type. I wouldn't absolutely rule out buying a rating, but I wouldn't do so without some assurance of a return on my "investment". Picking a type rating out of a hat is poor money and career management.
