Default Type Rating Opinions

Hi guys, wanted to see if I can get some opinions from professionals here.
I am working on getting FAA ATPL based on ICAO ATPL. I haven't flown professionally since 2001 but have over 5000 total hours (960 jet, 1000 MEL). Oh, and I'm a US citizen.
My plan is to take ATPL practical concurrently with a type rating (for example 737NG). Airline or business aviation will work.
I have about $10K I can spend on the rating and am looking for opinions on which type ratings are more in demand in today's market.

Do you know how to operate an E6B? I just might have the perfect business partner.

No offense guys -- you have to check out the last thread to understand the irony of this one.

If you are going to try to get a job overseas, then get an A320 type.

If you want to fly for Southwest some day, get a B737 type.

You can get your ATP for no additional charge with either type rating.

For 10 K I think you're limited to the 737 or CE500. When you start talking Hawker or other business jets, there are only a couple places to go and they know it. Same thing for the bus and 75/76.

thank you for your replies. Disregarding the cost issue, with what type rating am I mostly like to find a job, preferably non-regionals and business, in US or overseas.

Airbus... but you'd need time in type to get any overseas job.

With no time in type a type rating probably isn't going to help you much.

thanks but I was really hoping to hear some specific opinions/reasoning on the subj. Of course I have reasons to go ahead and do a type rating instead of just going to an instructor to practice for ATP practical. Either way I'll have to take a practical exam, it seems make sense to go to one of the type rating schools to do that.

So which type rating is more valuable? Are there more jobs on B-737, B-757 or Airbus? Something along those lines
