This is a good dilemma to have. Here is my 2 cents. With the G650 coming out, the operators I know that are going to get them are going to be looking for G550 experienced pilots sbove all else as it will be a very easy transition. Gulfstream was trying to get it under the same type at one time as it is amost similar enough. Just something to think about.

There is a ton of contract work available on the Global right now, my company is paying 1500 a day for contractors.
The issue that you will have is that with zero time on the aircraft you might find some work, but it will be at the below average operators, and for 1000 a day or less.
The CRJ time won't help you at all. Probably the good thing is with a few contract legs over to Hong Kong you'll have the hours that you need....

No, the CRJ time will not help in the least as the airplane is completely different than the Global Express.

And I am curious as to why you think a few legs to Hong Kong makes a difference?

I have never flown to Hong Kong and consider myself very experienced on the Global.

I think he was just saying a few legs that are 12-15 hrs a pop will give him enough time for any operator to view him as 'experienced' enough for contract work/employment.

I gotcha. I thought that maybe there was something about Hong Kong that I did not know.

Thanks for all the different viewpoints. So all things being equal.. and since my other experience doesnt count for squat, which aircraft will offer the most opportunities?

There is a ton of contract work available on the global, I don't know anything about the gulfstream market.

Seems like I see more G550 job postings than Globals lately. What a tough decision...
