Any legacy 600 driver out there?
I am a former ERJ 145 captain and have been offered a position as a a legacy driver. Does anyone out there have experience on both types? I just wanted to see some opinions on how similar or different they are.

I'm also an EMB-145 Driver. The Legacy 600 is the same SH-T. No diference between them. The Legacy is a EMB-135. that's all. You gonna have more power do to the fact that you only gonna be flying 5-10 people, instead of the 50 in the EMB-145... Go for it, there is more MONEY in Corporate than Airlines...

I've never flown the Legacy 600, but I have been in the preliminary stages of research for a company who wants to buy one. The previous posts are mostly correct, it is essentially a 135. However, it has, in addition to the ventral tank a third or fourth fuel tank aft of the baggage compartment. Basically doubling the fuel capacity over that of a standard 135. It also weighs about 5,000lbs more empty, mainly because of the interior comforts and ammenities. It also has the A1E engines rather than the A13's that the airilne versions use. I'm sure there is some more, but those are the main differences that I can gather. Good luck!!

Came across your thread and was wandering where this new job was based, i.e. USA, Europe or Middle East? I also work for a regional flying the EMB-145 but am on a "working vacation" flying for a company in the mid-east. The biggest difference between the Legacy and the emb-145 is the MONEY!!!!! Other than the MONEY, the range is much further and endurace a lot longer. I routinely fly 6-7 hr legs all over Africa, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Far East. Aircraft is on par with the GIII but no where close to the IV or V. All in all though, its a great airplane to fly. Say good bye to FL370 limitation, we usually fly 39-41 depending on the current weight. If your job takes you around the world be prepared for a different operating enviorment especially in Russia and Mid-East. Have fun and enjoy your new higher paying job!

I'm not sure why you would revive this after so long, however since it is back alive..
I'm now flying a Legacy 600 in the Middle East, after flying the 145 for ExpressJet. It's official classification is EMB-135BJ. It has the XR engines, and a ventral system with 4 tanks. The Legacy 650 has another set of tanks behind the cargo compartment, and it sacrifices a little cargo space for that.
It uses the same EMB-145 type rating, and we have the same cockpit layout as the Dual FMS at XJT, except we have the mounted EFBs. Really a bummer because they moved the Oxygen mask where the cup holder used to be! One plus is that we have electrical outlets on each side for toys.
