BCA Review - Lear 75 - almost 14M ?
Ok, not sure how much was invested in the development of this aircraft, but my opinion is we have too many Lear models coming into (or already existing) in the market place.
My take
Lear 75: $13.8M (only available brand new, nothing pre-owned)
Carry 9 Pax 1700 NM or 4 Pax 2000 NM
No Auto throttles
Citation XLS+: $9M for a 2010 model, preowned (4M left over for fuel, etc)
Similar specs/performance
Yes Auto throttles
Now, why would I buy a brand new 75 ?

I will say the "guy with the newest jet" is gone from the bizjet market. The list price of the LR75 probably will affect buying decisions. The CL300/G280 is becoming the bottom of the market; if you can't stand up in the lav, have Internet and transcontinental range, it is a hard sell.

Like GF said, my two cents non-owner opinion, is post-2008 crash (which include the automakers closing flight departments), the buyer who gets the atta-boy from the CFO and shareholders is the guy who makes the smartest financial decision. Not the newest or coolest jet that is hot that day. That may have worked 1980's Texas oil boom gold rush. My Hawker is badder than your Sabre. I think today, the environment is different.
If I had 14M laying around, I would go clean and used 45 or XLS and take the remainder and put it somewhere else. Not that these buyers are walking in with a bag of cash to buy a Learjet, but you see my point.
I think the Learjet-arm of Bombardier has lost its compass on the market. They have ??? what jets now ? the 40, 45, 70, 75, 85, all on market or coming to the market.
Learjet
Just some observations.

The 40 and 45 are out of production, the 85 is awhile from first flight. The 60 is on hiatus, pending customer revival, not optimistic about any new 60 production. As Cessna, Hawker and Lear shows the small jet end of the market has barely recovered since 2008. There are more Globals delivered than Lear 45s over the same time frame. In 5 fewer years, the CL 300 has just about caught up with the 45 sales total.

My former company purchased a used 45 for 5.5 million 9 years ago. My current company principals have been buying up 7 year old Hawker 850's w PROLINE 21. They rolled off the line at over 11 million & are going for just 3.5 million. A ton of airplane for the money!

Being a lear guy, I am excited for the 75. The 60 is no longer in production, in fact I was in ICT for recurrent and saw the last serial roll off the line. Anything below the 45 is becoming increasingly irrelevant in the charter market. Sure, the small 91 side will do just fine with a nice 35. The 45 is nice, but a bit quirky. The 55 is underpowered, old, each one is different, and can't go coast to coast. But When you want to go coast to coast both ways, and have a new aircraft the 75 looks attractive. The medium size market is a funny one at best. Cessna is scaling back, Hawker is done... If you want a new 9 seat and below aircraft, that is fast, the 75 is just about the only choice.

Look at Cessna, they are twice as worse in model quantity.
