Especially flying to who knows where. I would bet half the time you wouldn't even be legal due to reciprocity laws for carry conceal with the state you have your license in. I shudder at the thought. The Judicial system will throw your tight butt in a cell with bubba.

The ironic thing is this job is aimed at former military or LEO who pretty much know the enormous legal peril involved in such a scenario and would avoid it like the plague. Therefore, the remaining candidate is probably a civilian who is neither adequately trained nor cognizant of the risks. When it all hits the fan you can be certain that the employer will wash their hands clean of it and place all accountability upon the individual.

These type of positions are usually very high end. A friend did this kind of thing and his pay was well north of $200k per year almost ten years ago flying a single pilot jet, he was and still is the rare Tier 1 operator with no military specops or LE SWAT background. He also spent a lot of time at government contractor gigs. It was more of a single pilot operation and PSD position, he had been federally deputized so he could carry firearms everywhere.

Yes those people really exist, and no, he did not pick up the drycleaning or kids at school.

For every legitimate position there are a hundred non-legit ones. It truly is buyer beware in this environment. The OP avoided a potential disaster by walking away from that mess.
