The problem is what does July, August look like, if people are lax on these measures and various things are "open again."

The hospitals are empty because people are afraid to go there for fear of getting the virus, elective procedures have been stopped and the emergency room isn’t being used as the family physician due to my first point. The quarantine is a part of that, but only a part.
My my wife gets sent home early every day because of all of the empty beds. People are suddenly healthier or not hurting. They’re just afraid of catching Corona or not being allowed to get less than critical procedures.

At this point I honestly don’t understand what people expect. Are we to shut down society until a vaccine is in place? If not, then re-opening is inevitable. The curve has been flattened. That’s not some right-wing conspiracy, it’s the truth. Hospitals are empty all over the country, for the most part. It is baffling to me why anyone would be against just reopening everything now with proper precautions in place (Masks, social distancing when possible, symptom checks, etc). No one says you have to go out if you are fearful of catching it or spreading it. If you feel it’s best to quarantine, then go for it. These over-bearing mandated shutdowns are just ridiculous at this point. A month or two ago when we had so little data? Sure. If you dare to venture outside of mainstream news sources, there are many medical experts sounding alarms about how stupid this is becoming.

"We're Ready!"
...can't even keep a roll of toilet paper on a grocery store shelf.
Too bad we can't get the geniuses that are cranking out the C-19 tests by the bazillion to figure out how to make TP. The complexity of TP must be staggering.

My next door neighbor is an ER doctor and he’s never been as busy. It depends on where you are.

Lots of studies (small # of people) have shown 30-35% of areas have immunity when antibodies have been checked. We are much closer to herd immunity than people think. If 30% of the population have immunity it is far less contagious because it needs a host.

My neighbor ER doc says he has been slow for over a month. Denver area. Nurses in the neighborhood have been sent home early as well... they aren’t disappointed tho.

Good! Social distancing in the Denver area has done its job!! Kind of like when you have a five hour delay because of WX at destination. You finally get there, the weather is beautiful now, and all the passengers are ****ed and they ask you...so where is the weather? Ever heard that?

Highlights are that 200 people in a Massachusetts town are tested for antibodies. 32% have antibodies. Half haven't been sick recently to got immunity without illness. Many others did have some symptoms but were mild. Similar numbers in an Icelandic study.

Highlights are that Stockholm will have herd immunity in a few weeks. Sweden didn't institute lockdown procedures like some countries and they did have a larger proportion of fatalities earlier but they are close to being done with Covid. If they could have isolated the elderly earlier or tested their caregivers it wouldn't have such tragic numbers. They did do limited shutdowns and have one of the best healthcare systems in the world but their summer will be much different than ours. The longer we drag this out the more chance of mutations, or the timing joining up with flu season in the fall.
