FDA staff finds J&J single-dose vaccine safe and effective.
72% effective in the US. Overall 66% effective globally against multiple strains.
85% effective against severe cases after 14 days. 100% effective against severe cases after 28 days.
Of note, the trial data was analyzed for asymptomatic infection and showed an 88% reduction in that.

I think there had been discussion of this before but now it's official Pfizer is 94% effective in real-world deployment per data from Israel.
Doesn't discuss which strains were involved, and one might expect Israel to be pretty organized with their deployment logistics, cold chain, etc. Doesn't mean every other nation will have the same luck.

They had the original in a matter of weeks then government bureaucracy got in the way.
Hopefully they can get this one out before the virus mutates again.

Side note, good friend had first Pfizer, two days later starting showing COVID symptoms, just when his son told him to get tested. Sure enough son gave dad and mom mild cases, tested by PCR. Guess is not enough vaccine caused immunity before being exposed. Very mild for dad, scratchy throat and cough, son and mom got a mild cold with some loss of smell/taste for a couple days.

Clinical efficacy for both Pfizer and Moderna has been observed starting 10-12 days from first inoculation.
