Cases, Hospitalizations, and Deaths are all increasing, why wouldn’t anyone think these numbers wouldn’t be going into the toilet again. They’re basically saying don’t leave your house in LA. It won’t matter how much covid fatigue people have there’s not going to be any reason to go anywhere when we are locked down again, which is certainly where this is headed.

Testing was readily available then.

For context, I’m also in Florida and the summer peak was around 15k cases/day if I recall correctly, and local governments were allowed to have both mask mandates and restrictions on indoor activities, there was a ban on bars operating, and school was out of session.

Recently we seemed to peak around 10k cases a day and the governor has specifically prohibited any restrictions. School is in session, too, and the bars are wide open. I suppose the jury is still out on effects of the holidays but things certainly look better at the moment.

I was pretty skeptical about “no restrictions” but if the trend line holds through the holidays then I suspect that Florida will be “on the other side” of this thing.

Florida has handled this virus better than almost anybody. A great example for failing states like New York and California to follow for sure.

This ^^^^^

As a country we are stupid. Very little reading and critical thinking. We need the Cliff Notes version to everything. Anything requiring thought and analysis is just too much work. So we have evolved to the point where we prefer others to think for us, rather than thinking for ourselves, and take as gospel whatever is spewed out onto the landscape by them.

As an example, many internationally made movies have substantial plots, and deep layers that requires the audience to be immersed in it, and so would be considered boring stateside. Hollywood movies therefore have to be made with one big explosion after another to be successful because of our short attention span.

Smh.

What are you talking about. FL is top 3 in worst hit states. Much higher than CA too in deaths per million. There’s almost as many people living in the whole LA area as there are people in all of Florida. It’s a bit crowded hence more restrictions.

Another example could be the rest of the world’s handing of the pandemic.

I don’t know the exact numbers, but been in Florida all my life. I’d bet that a large portion of those deaths are from the elderly that go there to retire.

They don’t want to end up like California (I’ll leave it at that) so that’s why they’re doing it the way they are. I actually appreciate how they’re going about it. Small government is awesome.
