The US will never really have a third party because in order to have one the two dominate parties would have to vote against their own best interests.

Winner take all voting creates the two party system, why would the two benefitting from it ever change that?
Even ranked choice voting would be a good start.

I am 100% behind ranked choice voting, But I doubt we will ever be able to see it nationally.

Sadly the Heisman will be the closest we see to ranked choice voting I feel

He wants some aspects of the CARES stuff passed. The problem is the bill that Pelosi put out was full of stuff that the Republicans don’t want.

He is mad tweeting promising cash to various segments, trying to turn and influence political tide. Basically he is pandering for pressure. “I have all these toys for you, if only mommy would let me give them to you”.

The reality is, if one votes for a Libertarian candidate in a close election, one hands the election to the Democrats. Probably the least palatable option for someone voting Libertarian.

I was in Washington state for a bit. The selection of the top two in the primary ranked choice is what they have. The result is often 2 Democratic candidates in the general election, no Republican. That is not a good way to run an election, unless you want to guarantee a Democratic only election.

Yeah that's not how it works at all bud. The parties, all parties, still get to nominate their candidate. I don't know where you picked that information up from, but you probably shouldn't trust that source ever again.

What you experienced there, in Washington was a "Nonpartisan blanket primary" with ranked choice voting attached. Not ranked choice voting by itself. The thing you are taking up an issue with, and rightly so if you ask me, is the nonpartisan blanket primary (NBP for short). In which all candidates are thrown into one giant pile instead of being broken down into one candidate per party first.

And I agree with you on that, however what you have to understand is the downside you are talking about is not ranked choice voting but rather NBP. Ranked choice voting, when just done by itself will never have that problem.
